Imagine waking up thirsty in the middle of the night, and not having a tap to turn on for clean water. Imagine trekking kilometers on end, every day, to a dirty and poluted river... filling up a 40 pound jug, just to throw it on your back and make that trek back home. Imagine that water, that you are now consuming, is also harbouring diseases such as typhoid and cholera.
Not a great thing to imagine is it? Unfortunately it is the reality of many. 844 million people in this world, to be exact.
Having had the opportunity to live in both Tanzania and Kenya, I have seen first hand the dire reality of those with no access to clean and safe drinking water. A basic human need that we all take for granted. I have also witnessed the amazing impact that clean water has on communities. With improved water, you see sustainable agriculture and reduced hunger; children returning to school instead of collecting water; and fewer illnesses, so kids miss less school and adults can farm or manage their businesses.
SO with all of that said, I have set a goal to raise $1000 for clean water. Every $25 raised gives one person access to clean water... for LIFE.
The next time you want to order Uber Eats, get those 3 Starbucks coffees or buy a shirt you don't really need.... DON'T, and dontate to those who need clean water to live :) (guilt trip much?).
