As some of you know, my dad died of Parkinson's and Dementia less than a year ago. Being so mad and angry at the whole process, my sister and I decided we need a way to give back. We wanted do whatever we could to help find a cure for this awful disease. Jane and I have done several 5k races and I have even done a couple 10k races. We have signed up for the Miami 1/2 Marathon in January and are raising money to help suport The Parkinson's Foundation. Here is where the huge leap comes in. Not only have i never ran 13.1 miles, I have never done any fundraising like this. The Parkinson's Foundation has paid our race entry fee in return for $1500 in donations. If we do not meet the goal, we are obligated to pay the difference. Scary, but this so important to me. This disease is awful to watch, and my wish is that we can stop other families from having to go through the same thing my Dad and our family went through.
