In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
“We already had two older children - a boy of 14 years old and a girl of 8 years old. In October 2019, we learned the good news that we will have twins. Until 26 weeks, the pregnancy was uneventful. Then on March 24, I went into labor. The babies were born prematurely - a boy of 980 grams and a girl of 950 grams. They were immediately connected to a ventilator. The state of Kira and Kirill, as we called our babies, is today stable but difficult. They need daily parenteral nutrition until they gain weight and improve further. And this is about 1,000 hryvnia per day for one child. I am currently in the hospital next to my children and I can’t leave them. My husband, due to quarantine, also cannot come to us, as we live in the Zaporizhzhya region. Therefore, we ask for help from caring people..
Can you help us purchase nutrition for Kira and Kirill?
