Help support our shelter during this time of need.
Like everyone else forced to improvise in the face of an unprecedented crisis, our organization is trying to come up with ways to stay "open" and operate on donated funds. Our weekly adoption events don't just help animals find forever homes, but they also reimburse the medical costs and monies spent towards the animals. We have had to turn to appointment-only meet and greets/adoptions. This has changed the paradigm since adoptions events are an additional way to showcase animals looking for homes.
As the virus continues to take both an emotional and financial toll on families in our area, requests continue to pour in for help with owner surrendered animals, as well as unclaimed/unwanted animals from crowded shelters. Animals with medical needs receive the most urgent requests. Although we continue to try to raise money through social media outlets, the inability to hold charity events has been one of our biggest financial stresses. We had charity events scheduled for the spring, which all had to be cancelled due mandated closures of restaurants and other venues.
Lastly, "crisis shopping" has made it difficult to receive supplies via online and in person. Since we operate not only as an animal rescue/shelter for adoptable animals, we also serve as a sanctuary/retirement home for many other animals that require special diets and supplies.
Due to high mortality rates from the Coronavirus, especially amongst seniors, we have been receiving calls from family members who are desperately seeking placement for their loved ones’ animal(s). Some of these animals require medical needs (i.e. hypothyroidism, diabetic, etc.) and the family is unwilling or unable to take on the financial commitment without having job/financial security.
Receiving any financial assistance during this international crisis would be greatly appreciated.
