Dear Palmetto Middle Families and Community Members,
As our country confronts COVID-19, public schools are faced with unprecedented challenges as we seek to provide a safe and healthy learning environment. Our PTSA has advocated for purification systems in our classrooms. Currently, standing air purification towers have not been deemed necessary by the CDC or W.H.O.; however, the PTSA Board, through our own research and feedback from several Palmetto parents, find there to be sufficient evidence that these systems would be assets for our school both in the short and long term.
We are currently looking to purchase Air Purification Systems for all classrooms, which include H13 Medical Grade HEPA Filters which capture 99.9% of particles down to 0.1 microns. Aside from potential added COVID-19 protection, air purification systems provide increased air quality including protection from allergens, molds, and other viral pathogens, such as flu -- which can cause added complications for our students now and in the future.
In order to expedite the purchase and delivery of these air purifiers, we are launching this fundraiser today and will run it through October 16, 2020. We are asking our families and community to please give what they can.
Thank you for your support of this important initiative.
We are all in this together.
Your Palmetto PTSA Board
* If we are able to exceed our goal, we can consider purchasing purifiers for other locations in our school, such as the Media Center , filters for the air purifiers and plexiglass desk shields for teachers' desks.
