In 2016 a teacher at WMHS had a dream to bring a group of rural Vermont high school students to Boston to visit the MFA and see a touring Broadway Musical. After a year of hard work and a tremendous amount of fundraising, she made that dream a reality. 45 students and chaperones viewed exhibits of Egyptian mummies, Monet's water lilies, and Matisse's masterpieces, and saw the 20th Anniversary production of RENT at the Shubert Theater. In 2017, the numbers grew to 55 and the students and chaperones again visited the MFA and this time saw the new musical Waitress at the Boston Opera House.
None of this would have been possible without the generous support of parents, teachers, community members, local businesses, and people like you!
This year, the dream has grown once again and over 60 students and chaperones from the Paine Mountain School District will be travelling to tour the MFA and see the breathtaking Broadway production of Les Miserables at the Boston Opera House. For some of these students, this will be the first (and maybe only) time they've ever left their home community or experienced this caliber of art and theater.
Help support them in their efforts by making a donation today. Your contribution helps make this trip affordable for rural Vermont students who otherwise would not have the means to participate. Every little bit helps make this small town teacher's big dream a reality once again!
