Hi. I'm Paige. If you're viewing this, you probably know me well enough to know that I love lifting heavy things and getting strong. For the past (almost) four years, I've competed in powerlifting here in the Twin Cities. While my total hasn't gone up much, powerlifting has really impacted my mind, as well as my body. Not to mention all the great folks I've met along the way.
I believe that all lifters should be able to experience the joys of the platform--the cheering, the support from your fellow competitors, maybe winning a medal, but more importantly, beating your personal best. That's why Pull for Pride is so awesome. ANYONE is welcome--regardless of their background, preferred gender, sexual orientation, skill level, you name it.
I'm excited to lift for a purpose that's outside of me. My participation in Pull for Pride helps raise money for Avenues for Homeless Youth, a non-profit dedicated to providing housing, basic needs, and supportive services to help homeless youth. Avenues is also one of the few Home Host programs available for LGBTQ homeless youth. Homeless adolescents and young adults, who number roughly 6,000 in Minnesota on a given day, are so often a segment of our population that feels powerless in the face of trauma and abuse.
I'd love your help supporting this cause. And if you're in the Twin Cities area, come watch me deadlift an unimpressive amount of weight!
