Join us to Eliminate Water Poverty in Rural India
Be a part of a movement that brings water security and employment to farmers and migrant workers that have returned home during the pandemic.
Currently, 54% of India faces extremely high water stress. Women have to walk miles to procure water, farmers live in deep financial distress, and major cities such as Chennai are running out of water. The UN has warned of civil unrest if urgent steps are not taken to address this problem.
Over the last four years, OVBI has been working on a war footing to avert this national crisis. In 2019, partnering closely with government bodies, ex-ISRO scientists, NGOs and local communities, OVBI completed projects to eliminate water poverty in 140 drought-stricken villages across the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The interventions include the construction of micro recharge structures, de-silting of waterways, and building check dams to allow water to percolate and refresh underground aquifers.
We have committed to projects in Tamilnadu, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Karnataka for the year 2020-21 and to fulfil the commitments, OVBI's goal is to raise $1.5 in 2020-21 to bring water security in rural India
Join the movement by donating, volunteering or inviting us to speak with you about how you can be a part to transform the lives of people in India.
You can sponsor and eliminate water poverty in a village of about 2000 residents for $1500.
