The 8th Annual Outlaw Dash will be held at 9:00am on Saturday, November 28 in New Bern, NC. The race will begin at Bangert Elementary School (3712 Canterbury Rd, Trent Woods, NC) and will finish at 3418 Stratford Road.
The Outlaw Dash is a 5K run/walk held in honor of Colonel James Lee Whitlow, call sign “Outlaw,” who passed away in 2013 due to ALS. Later that year, his surviving wife and three children decided to hold an annual fundraising event to honor his memory and to help others who are diagnosed with ALS. Colonel Whitlow was a career Marine pilot whose 31 years of service included tours in both the Vietnam and the Gulf War. He was a revered leader in the military and in his local community. He was a kind and patient man, known for his wit and wisdom, who deeply loved his family. The race route was modeled after his daily jogs that he used to take around the Trent Woods neighborhood in New Bern, NC.
Registration and donations can be made by clicking the "Donate" button above or in person the morning of the race – beginning at 8:00 a.m. The registration fee is $15 per person; donations above and beyond the registration fee are of course welcome. All donations are tax deductible and will go directly to The ALS Association North Carolina Chapter.
Note: although this event will be held outdoors, we encourage all participants to wear masks, social distance, and wash/sanitize hands, especially at the registration area.
