Dear Friend,
I hope and pray you and your family are safe.
During this time of crisis, and of immediate “sheltering in place” and electronic community-relationships, we pray for you as we endeavor to keep our workers, volunteers, and infrastructure safe. We also need your prayers and financial support at this time.
This screen shows the partnership between GoFundMe/Charity and Lourdes which has a weekly collection goal of $6,800. (All parishes of Archdiocese of Newark are participating). We hope this alternative online-option enables you to make an offering, either on a one-time basis or more often as your means allow. I recognize many of you are experiencing financial difficulties, especially if you are alone or already living in stressful circumstances.
If this GoFundMe method is not for you, you may also mail an envelope/check to Lourdes. You may also visit LOURDESWESTORANGE.ORG for our regular electronic giving option.
The reason for GoFundMe is not to replace – but rather complement – these existing and necessary methods. Also, this “crowdfunding” platform allows you to share this campaign and your contribution with others – if you wish – on Facebook and other media. The Archdiocese of Newark has waived their usual assessment on parish gifts, if the gift is made via GoFundMe.
Please also visit LOURDESWESTORANGE.ORG and click "Find us on Facebook" for spiritual reflections, prayers and more. On LOURDESWESTORANGE.ORG, click the "amber-color" information box for updates and more information, including our next parish "Telephone Town Hall" conference call.
I am personally grateful as your pastor and priest for your gift and for the prayers I know you make for your own loved ones and for our parish family of Lourdes. I also pray for you and yours.
Our Lady of Lourdes, Pray for Us!
In Christ's Peace,
Father Jim Ferry, 973.325.0110, email: FERRYJAM2@AOL.COM

The Archdiocese of Newark
Welcome. The Archdiocese of Newark is coordinating with the team at GoFundMe to provide one online location for the faithful to support the critical needs of their own parish (through this page) or other parish communities (through the Parishes in Need fund). The faithful may also contribute through their usual channels (e.g., envelopes, other online giving, the Annual Appeal).
Please consider a tax-deductible contribution to your parish on the parish’s GoFundMe page, or to the Parishes in Need fund, which will be used to conduct outreach to those in need and support those communities struggling to continue to pay their employees and church utility bills through this crisis. Contributions raised through the parish GoFundMe page will benefit that parish.
Cardinal Tobin has waived the usual archdiocesan assessment for contributions raised through this initiative. GoFundMe does not charge a platform fee (0%). There is a 0% platform fee and only an industry-standard payment processing fee of 1.9% + $0.30 per donation. If a charity receives a donation of $100, they will net $97.80. Donors will also have the option to tip GoFundMe Charity to support their continued business.
Thank you for your generosity to your parish and to those parish communities unable to meet their critical needs alone.
