OUR MISSION AND 6 MONTH MILESTONE
Our Mission is to Inform the Public and Help train treatment center personnel into adopting and implementing Evidence Based Practices (EBP) in the delivery of Patient-Centered, behavioral healthcare. There is ample evidence to prove that EBP, if delivered with multiculturally trained competency, tends to have significantly better measured outcomes, no matter what stage of change a client is in, versus if a non evidence based method is used. We believe that feedback informed care* when its delievered by heathcare professionals that are willing to accept critiques on their methods from their patients helps foster trust and develops a stronger, longer term therapeutic alliance betweem client and therapist.
Having a willingness to connect and seek the patient's perspective on how they think they are doing in all of the cognitive behavioral exercises being done for example- will likely improve their treatment based on giving such feedback. These adjustments not only improve outcomes by factor of 70 to 350%. Read more about our Mission below in the "How We Started" section below.
OUR SIX MONTH MILESTONES: We are confident we will have accomplished the following by November 30, 2020:
1). Clearly Define our Long Term Mission as a Charitable Foundation and find supportive members of the Board that will help us achieve this.
2). Established routine Board and Mgmt communictions concerning our planned activities in our OutReach Efforts.
3) Familiarize ourselves with available existing Homeless Youth Outreach Programs in LA County and learn from their data and recent and past accomplishments.
4) Establish our Donor Outreach team which will make outbound calls daily to Foundation and Private Donors listing our accomplishments and our Vision.
Our Short term Goal is to raise at least $4,000.
With this amount we can purchase and deliver over 2,000 paper surgical masks and water bottles to many of the people now calling the streets of Los Angeles County "home". We think we can raise this by Memorial Day!
We hope to get more donations and that David, myself and a few others can transition into working for EBCA on a full and partn time basis.. We hope to have canvassed most of the hotels housing the homeless called Project Roomkey, until the end of the year or a little over 180 days.
Another very important goal in this outreach is to perform placement assessments with each of the patrons that have agreed to receiving our services and trust and wish to have their information uploaded to see if they qualify for one or more behavioral initiatives available at the City and L.A. County Levels. To this end, we are receiving favorable responses from academic institutions who are providing training for professional social work and in various counseling professions.
Equipped with Chromebooks and our wireless 4GLTE Mobile Beacons, we intend to upload well crafted initial and follow up assessments and to offer the continued outreach to be shared with DPSS and LAMDH interns and recent graduate students to have their volunteer work with us and the homeless to be counted towards their clinical hours.
We hope through your generosity you can help us kickstart our campaign . Thanks to donors like you, we'll not only achieve our minimum funding levels but we'll make more of an impact within the hearts and minds into the lives of so many who are homeless today. Your generosity will help us do more.
HOW WE WILL ACCOMPLISH OUR NEAR AND LONG TERM GOALS: PATIENCE, PERSISTENCE, PRAYER, DIGITAL MARKETING AND PRESSING THE FLESH- WE ARE HERE TO HELP
We want to recruit at least 30 Vounteers a day by December 1st, and with the aide of local state and local law enforcement, we'll be able to help identify where the homeless are making their encampments in each of the eight districts of Los Angeles County.
We will start by renting 3 vans to help deliver masks, socks, water bottles as well as aide our interns in reaching our homeless patrons to do remote assessments using the donated technology from our sponsors such as Mobile Beacon and other Techsoup.org registered sponsors that we have identified and are reaching out to help us achieve our goal.
Please take a look at our Proposed Budget and Donating Supporter Incentives as well as Foundation Sponsorship Opportunities.
HOW WE STARTED
We started Evidence Based California to bring awareness to where behavioral healthcare practiced by many addiction treatment centers throughout California do not provide any post treatment outcomes data to either State, County or Local regulatory agencies or to any third party accreditation companies. What was lacking was a failure to follow empirical data which gave proof or "evidence" that it is the better choice.
As a registered vendor with the County of Los Angeles, we hope to procure grant and other support from foundatrions focused on improving the lives of the voiceless our homeless. As a recovery community organization it is our goal to help build connections with organizations that want to adopt evidence based practices into their treatment, and to connect these with people in need of their services. We will also assist the County from the standpoint of helping assess people in this population to needed services from social work to mental health by helping classify people based on their needs. To that end, we are requesting the helping profession communities and psychology departments of Univerisities to sponsor our efforts as credits for their students who help out in our efforts.
As a registered 501(c)3 private charitable foundation ,we want to alert you all, that donations made to us, qualify as being 30% deductible pursuant to IRC Codes for private foundations, notwithstanding any amendments for greater deduction under recent COVID-19 IRC Amendments. This means if you donate $1000 to us, you can deduct $300 directly from your net taxible income.
In addition to the Homeless Masks, Socks and Water for Assessment - we intend to launch a comprehensive online platform that will allow Evidence Based California to accomplish its mission of bringing about awareness and empowerment to the public by helping identify which Southern California addiction treatment centers are using scientifically proven, evidence based practices in their treatment protocols.
For this goal, we have identified the company that has built this platform and are currently seeking donations and volunteer support from people and organizations to help launch our platform during the first quarter of next year.
Our organization is run and managed by people who have battled and have succeeded in leaving behind their life addled with addiction and mental illness. In fact, our founder has shared his very powerful personal story on our website and has shared it with people who become members by subcribing with us.
The recent passage of SUPPORT Patients and Communities Act, signed into law by President Trump in October 2018, provides favorable treatment to community organizations such as ours -ones that are wholly owned or principally governed by people in recovery for substance use disorders and who reflect the community they intend to serve. Based on this, we feel confident we can rightfully receive Federal, State and local grants.
We are men and women who have rebuilt our lives in recovery, dedicated to helping others like us to also be given second and third chances to finding their internal resilience and willingness to learn how to heal and to live happily within our communities.
Please donate generously to our cause. We will soon launch our platform and our site soon!
