I'd like to think we all have stories of rising from the ashes of life. Luna has no such stories in his life but her handler does and OSF wants to help. Luna is learning to serve a special military spouse who is currently located in North Carolina.
She tells us: "It's been 11 years that I have felt my disabilities destroy me from the inside out. Despite my best efforts, having disabilities has changed my daily life. I'm ready for a change though, I'm ready for freedom. It is with help from mental health professionals, friends, family, my husband, and One Step to Freedom that I will find hope in gaining my independence. After severe trauma that still haunts me; along with multiple subsequent disabling diagnoses; I find that I am unable to function normally in public and often even within my own home. I believe no one should have to live this way but especially as a military spouse whose husband is deployed. I must be able to function and cope with performing normal, daily tasks alone so I can support myself and also support him. Although my husband is proudly defending America's freedom and security, I need help finding those elements of life personally. So I pray that with the help of One Step to Freedom and some amazing, generous donations I will be able to fight to win my own personal independence with a service dog by my side."
