Since its founding, Operation Walk has deployed 18 teams on 100 trips to 25 countries for 10,000 patients. With your help we can reach more!
Message from Sheva Carr, Founder of the Fyera Foundation:
For about 20 years, I have had chronic, debilitating hip pain increasing in the degree to which it has compromised my ability to walk. As I write this now, I require crutches to go distances further than half a block. After a series of thorough X-rays and MRI's, it has been revealed that I was born with 3 congenital abnormalities in my pelvis and spine bones.
I am fortunate that there is a surgical procedure that will restore my ability to walk and do the things I love, which I will be undergoing July 23, 2019 at the Steadman Clinic, National Olympic Medical Center, in Vail, Colorado! Coincidentally another member of our Heart Ambassador community, Nancy Griffis, is having the same surgery on the same day.
In researching surgeons, Nancy and I have come upon three extraordinary individuals who started and work for a nonprofit organization called Operation Walk. They travel to countries where thousands of people who need surgery like I do, who do not have access to it, wait in line for years to be seen by these selfless caring surgeons.
We would like to turn our surgical journeys into a “Walk-A-Thon” for Operation Walk. The work I do on my computer and over the phone can be done without legs. I am one of the lucky ones. But for people in other places, their ability to walk and lift objects is not just a luxury- it is their ability to earn a living and care for themselves and their families.
Your pledges will help inspire me and Nancy in our recovery, knowing each step we take is a step closer to someone else’s life being restored. All your donations are tax deductible in the United States via our 501c3 Charitable Organization The Fyera Foundation.
