Help us support Veterans and their families during this time of need.
GoFundMeCharity is matching $1,000 if we raise at least $1,000 by May 5.
The Veterans Integration Centers (VIC) is a non-profit organization that has developed a comprehensive approach to ending Veteran homelessness. Since 2005, we have helped to alleviate difficulties for over 12,000 of our returning Heroes suffer with each day. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the need for safe housing and food security. Our program increases safety and security by providing homeless and at-risk Veteran families with multiple housing options to end their homeless cycle. And, with over 26% of New Mexico food insecure, it is critically important during this difficult time our communities support those in need.
By providing a safe and supportive living environment to over 700 Veterans & their family members each year, the VIC provides a sense of dignity and respect through stable housing and wrap-around services to address all their needs toward long-term housing stability and independence.
Our programs ensure safe and stable housing, something that helps keep homeless Veterans from being exposed to COVID-19, and other communicable diseases. We also provide food and hygiene products to ensure healthy eating and good sanitation habits. We provide life skills classes that help them understand simple skills many of us take for granted each day, as well as continuing to work on medical and mental health issues so they are never homeless again. We continue to provide group therapy with a licensed clinician to help address the stress of living in a COVID-19 society, including weekly check-ins with their multidisciplinary support team who is on site 24 hours daily to ensure they have the right supports when needed.
We continue to operate a free Community Support Shuttle for the homeless and indigent in the downtown corridor of Albuquerque. This resource has become a focal point for all homeless entering the community, and provides information and resources for community service providers in the area. We also provide information and resources for them to be safe and looking for signs of COVID infection from staff that are highly trained on proper safety and social distancing measures. We also provide daily hygiene products to maintain healthy living to the over 1100 riders each month.
YOU can help the VIC continue to provide these essentially needed services that not only end homelessness for over 700 Veteran families each year, but that shows New Mexican’s have not forgotten the service and sacrifice of our nation’s Heroes and their families for the freedoms we all enjoy. We are working to raise $10,000 to help provide multiple essential items and services during this difficult time of living with COVID-19 including:
• Safe and supportive housing that enables Veteran families the opportunity to obtain long-term housing stability
• Furniture & Home Essentials that turn a “house” into a “home”
• Food and nutritional resources to help reduce the over 26% food insecure in NM
• Comprehensive wrap-around services and clinical support in-house that ensure a Veteran’s ability to regain independence is not lost because of trauma or medical disability
Your donation-whether $10 or $500- all adds up to help a Veteran family in need.
Donations are 100% tax deductible, and over 90% of every dollar goes directly into VIC programs that support Veterans and their families.
