The Summerset Veterans Club was founded by Len Bregman over 15 years ago. The club started with a small group of veterans living in a retirement community who volunteered time and donated items to ship care packages to those who were deployed to serve our great country. Since Len's passing the club evolved to do more to help our local veterans in treatment at the Veterans Regional Facility - Martinez, CA. The club awards: $3,150 for 5 Ipads, $350 annual Len Bregman scholarship/certificate to most outstanding ROTC Cadet AFJROTC Unit at Heritage High School - $500 annually for the Patriot Jets Program, $500 for Care Packages sent to troops deployed overseas and $500 annually to Summerset & Cortona Veterans Certificates of Recognition. We have one fundraiser event yearly and get some donations from private donors. We are researching new ways to fund and support the important work and service our club provides to those who have sacrificed so much and the young men and women who are looking to serve their country. Please join forces with us as we continue our goal to award our Len Bregman scholarship/certificate - support the Patriot Jets Program - Care Packages to troops deployed - Summerset & Cortona Veterans recognition program and distribute Ipads and gift cards for our Veterans, under Dr. Kixmiller’s professional medical care, who have been diagnosed with PTSD, undergoing treatment for cognitive skills and memory loss. The Ipads have proven to be a highly effective tool for their mental and emotional rehabilitation. The gift cards and Ipads provide access to Apps specifically designed for the Veteran’s needs, while helping them stay in contact with their providers, families and community. This essential gift from the club to Neuropsychology/Cognitive Rehabilitation Specialist Dr. Kixmiller is a priceless boost to Veterans independence, quality of life, and ability to engage in treatment and community. They fought for us on Hostile lands and shores, now let us help support them win their battle at home.
