CHILD USA is raising funds to pay for a media campaign that will educate the public on what child sex abuse survivors need, in the wake of the PA Grand Jury Report jury that exposed abuse in six dioceses. It will feature survivors who testified to the grand jury and the lawmaker and survivor who has been leading the charge for justice in the state of Pennsylvania, Rep. Mark Rozzi.
The media campaign will show that the prayers of the clergy and bishops are not enough. Instead, all victims of child sex abuse deserve real justice: a “window” that will revive the victims’ expired civil statutes of limitations (SOLs). This will give all victims an opportunity to come forward while the SOL is suspended.
Despite the hundreds of abusers identified in the report—no victim can obtain justice in civil court. Victims need a window to shift the cost of abuse off of themselves and onto those who caused it. It’s only fair.
The time has come for victims of child sex abuse to receive justice, even if the SOLs have expired. Join CHILD USA as we push the envelope for justice. All victims deserve justice and the public needs the truth about abusers and the institutions that enable them that comes from lawsuits.
CHILD USA is the leader in child sex abuse SOLs. Under the guidance of CEO and Professor Marci Hamilton, it tracks the SOLs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia and provides the research to support access to justice for all child sex abuse victims – past and present.
