One Summit is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building courage, self-confidence and resilience in childhood cancer patients and their families through mentorship with US Navy SEALs.
It is my honor to introduce you all to my new mentee and friend Grayson Barry. Grayson is 7 years old, lives in Massachusetts, and loves to play sports. He was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 3 and was treated for over 3 years. I'm proud to say that Grayson completed his treatments in June of 2017 and is continuing to pursue his dreams of becoming a rock star.
One Summit has given me the opportunity to run the 2019 Boston Marathon in Grayson's name. I invite all of my friends and family to join me in supporting Grayson and his mother Gina as they continue to overcome whatever challenges tomorrow may bring.
When Grayson was asked what he thought a Navy SEAL was, he responded, "A hero." In the SEAL Teams we define a hero to be someone that is admired by their brothers for their courage and brave accomplishments in the face of adversity. My message to Grayson is that you are every bit a hero as the men that I get to serve with. You have a big heart and a willingness to sacrifice for others is exactly what this world needs.
Sometimes life presents us with obstacles that we can't overcome on our own. Sometimes we need a team to help us conquer our fears. That is exactly what the One Summit team has done and continues to do with children battling cancer. I'm asking you all to join this cause by donating to One Summit as the team helps young warriors like Grayson build their mental resilience and realize their ability to achieve anything that they put their mind to.
