My name is Heather LaRosa and I am running my first Boston Marathon this April representing One Summit, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making sure that no family has to face pediatric cancer alone. I am so proud to be on this team!
One Summit helps pediatric cancer patients and their families build resilience and courage by providing experiential learning with Navy SEALS, storytelling and community engagement. These little warriors participate in special climbing programs, Climb for Courage and Climb Higher, while learning all kinds of skills to help them set goals, overcome their challenges, and develop bonds with their own Navy SEAL.
I am inspired by the stories I've heard of the battles kids with cancer face everyday. One particular little boy, who happens to be my son's good friend and classmate, Jack, is facing his own diagnosis and is currently involved in the One Summit program. This experience has provided him with a sense of courage and determination. I believe this is exactly what he needs. Jack's siblings have gained a more empowering perspective too. One Summit is helping them understand how to navigate this journey alongside their brother, Jack.
I know that one of the best ways I can support Jack, his family and other kids like him is by working hard to share the mission of One Summit, which I am confident is making these little warriors so much stronger! Thank you so much for your support!
