Over the past 20 years, the Unity Christian Music Festival has grown into one of America’s largest Christian festivals. Unity is based in Muskegon, MI and is THE largest event in Muskegon each year, drawing up to 60,000 attendees at the 4 day family event.
Unity is an economic engine, bringing millions of dollars to local businesses each year. Over 750 volunteers give their time to produce a “family affordable”, fun and safe event at Heritage Landing on the shores of Muskegon Lake.
Unity’s mission, passion and reason for being is to support Christian ministries. In 19 years, Unity has raised and donated nearly $1 Million to our partner ministries, including $80,000 during the COVID-19 quarantine, when ministry fund raising was difficult and the needs were exploding. Most of the profits each year are donated, put to work in our area!
The postponement of Unity to August 11-14, 2021, means that the highly anticipated 20th Anniversary Celebration has also been postponed until next year.
The Unity family holds thousands of individual stories. Stories of families connecting, relationships being healed, prayers being answered. Hundreds have found Jesus as Savior and thousands have recommitted to Him as their Lord, inspired by the music, message and atmosphere at the festival. Fans have seen their favorite Christian music superstars, discovered new favorite bands and enjoyed the guilty splurge of a delicious variety of food vendor goodies.
Ministry displays fill the festival grounds; a chance for the Body of Christ, the Church, to learn more about each outreach, look for places to volunteer, donate, encourage and support those that touch their hearts. At Unity, believers are encouraged to put their faith in action, further supporting the dozens of ministries that are present.
Live music events are powerful. They can move us deeply, motivate us and give us comfort. The community that is formed at each festival continues long after and lifelong friendships have been formed just waiting in line to get in! Something special happens each year at Unity. Something we need.
The COVID-19 crisis has touched us all. For an event that only happens once per year, there is no “2nd chance” to make up lost revenue, no “do overs” or “make goods”. It simply means a full year without income. That’s why we have launched the “One in Christ-Unity 2021” campaign.
This campaign hopes to raise $100,000 of our estimated need of $250,000 to stay in business and begin planning the 2021 festival. This funding will cover our small staff payroll (3 staff/750+ volunteers), deposits on equipment rental, artists fees, etc, marketing costs, website updates and many other “advance” costs that are crucial to the success of the event. The remaining funding will be sought from sponsors, donors and other events throughout the year.
Thanks for helping support the “One in Christ-Unity 2021” campaign with a generous gift. Our goal is to hold a record breaking, 20th Anniversary event next August and to make sure that 2020 is our ONLY summer without Unity! God bless you all!
