In troubled times, communities band together to help those in need. San Diego County has been hit hard with poverty and food insecurity. With a lack of resources in nutrition education and support, National City alone leads the county in childhood obesity rates at 50%. Our mission is to promote healthy eating habits and provide nutritious food and other resources to anyone in need. To that end, we've partnered with the San Diego Food Bank, farmers and produce distributors, local businesses, nutritionists, doctors, chefs and others to create a solution for the pressing problem.
Throughout the months of October and November alone, we've been able to provide fresh produce to 4,853 and 5,250 households, helping families eat well. That equates to over 275,000 lbs. of food distributed throughout San Diego County. We're planning on expanding this to 1.5 million lbs. of food distributed as part of our 2021 plan. We've recently acquired a facility in National City to serve as a Super Pantry and Community Resource Center. Here, we can offer classes in life skills, nutrition and mentorship in our community alongside building a presence in the region.
We can't do it alone! “It Takes a Village to Create Change, Our Vibe Attracts Our Tribe on Earth & in Heaven"
