My Dear Parishioners and OLMC family.
Welcome to our go fund me page!
As our parish mission statement states:
As a Catholic Christian Community, we are seeking to know, love and serve our God. We do this in an environment where all are valued, and all can grow through the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ.
I wish to thank our dedicated and generous contributors that have given to our Go Fund Me page as we continue to move forward in these uncertain and difficult times. It has surpassed our first week’s goal and for that I am eternally grateful. But it was just that, a goal for that first week! The coronavirus still haunts us and influences our communities as we strive to normalize. As we have partnered with the Archdiocese in a unified effort to support our parishes during the time of Mass suspension, we continue to need your support as we begin our reopening process. As a parish we are still greatly impacted financially by the effects of this pandemic and your support of the parish is greatly needed. I hope you continue to make use of this opportunity to support Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish via our go fund me page weekly as is greatly appreciated and needed. WE set our goal at $7,500.00 for the First week of the campaign to make up the weekly deficit we are encountering without our regular weekly collection at masses as well as our income from bingo. Thus far, we have received a total of $10,975.00 over a three-month period. We are very thankful, that averages to about $1,097.50 weekly, $6,403.50 short of our weekly goal. Also, note that as a parish we have expended more than $95,000.00 on our recent repairs to the parish center roof, our sound systems, and the parish garage. It significantly reduced our parish reserves. With the loss of Bingo it has added a monthly deficit of almost $15,000.00, just from bingo alone. Mount Carmel has been a faithful Parish community since its founding in 1966 and continues to be. The parishioners have been faithfully supporting your parish ever since, I believe and trust that you will continue to do so. We need to increase our weekly goal to $12,000.00, that is WEEKLYnot in total. This amount reflects the operating needs of our parish and the deficit we face on a weekly basis, such as; gas and electricity, heating, air conditioning, payroll and maintenance, things that normally would not come to mind since your contributions and Bingo income takes care of these, but now with minimal income it is becoming more and more difficult. I ask all to prayerfully consider what you can reasonably commit too, maybe even increasing your normal tithing so that we can afford to meet our critical needs. The parishioners, and the public can track how much each parish has raised in total on their individual parish GoFundMe pages. You will be able to view our live stream of the mass on Sundays, in addition to our weekly Masses as we reopen on the weekend of June 20th, 2020. You may access the following links listed below to view any updates or messages. Know that all of you are in my prayers and that the staff and I are with you spiritually and united in prayer during these difficult times.
Sincerely united in prayer with you,
Reverend Ernest G. Rush, Administrator
John Beirne (Parish Trustee), Maryann Bonassi (President of Parish Council) & Judy Gencarelli (Parish Secretary)
The Archdiocese of Newark
Welcome. The Archdiocese of Newark is coordinating with the team at GoFundMe to provide one online location for the faithful to support the critical needs of their own parish (through this page) or other parish communities (through the Parishes in Need fund). The faithful may also contribute through their usual channels (e.g., envelopes, other online giving, the Annual Appeal).
Please consider a tax-deductible contribution to your parish on the parish’s GoFundMe page, or to the Parishes in Need fund, which will be used to conduct outreach to those in need and support those communities struggling to continue to pay their employees and church utility bills through this crisis. Contributions raised through the parish GoFundMe page will benefit that parish.
Cardinal Tobin has waived the usual archdiocesan assessment for contributions raised through this initiative. GoFundMe does not charge a platform fee (0%). There is a 0% platform fee and only an industry-standard payment processing fee of 1.9% + $0.30 per donation. If a charity receives a donation of $100, they will net $97.80. Donors will also have the option to tip GoFundMe Charity to support their continued business.
Thank you for your generosity to your parish and to those parish communities unable to meet their critical needs alone.
