The Olde Crabs Hockey Club will host it's Fifteenth Annual Charitable Senior Invitational Ice Hockey Tournament beginning October 18, 2019. Tasked with being the Tournament Chairman again (and again), I can't believe its here already and I can't believe I'm still playing, but grateful I can because it's for a great cause. Just like last year I've been so busy organizing and preparing for the event that I never got around to asking for your help.
Last year the Crabs hit a new milestone. Hard to believe that a bunch of old geezers could do it but over the last 14 years the Crabs have raised over $165,000 for charitable causes in and around Fairfield and Westchester counties. Last year we raised and gave away $30,000, to deserving and in need organizations like Ann's Place for cancer victims, the Dorothy Day Hospitality House serving the homeless and disadvantaged, The Children and Family Aid Society of Danbury, The Veterans Outreach Entreprenuership School at UConn, Fisher House New Haven providing housing for veterans families during hospitalizations, and the CT Storm, my favorite cause, providing a safe hockey and socializing experience for children focused on young adults with autism and developmental disabilities. These organizations continue to be financially challenged and in need of support. The Olde Crabs Tournament is our centerpiece for raising funds for these charitable enterprises. Beginning October 18 and for three days we'll host twenty eight teams from Minnesota, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Canada, New Jersey, D.C., Connecticut and upstate New York. We'll host 350 senor hockey players scattered among 50's 60's and 70 year old hockey geezers including me bad shoulders and all, as well as a few dozen over 40 women, dedicated to playing hockey and raising money for those in need. The registration fees received from the twenty eight teams will cover the cost of the event so 100% of donations received from supporters like you are deposited directly to our giving program and distributed before year end. You have been tremendous supporters of my chartible cause in the past and I hope you will find a way to do so again this year. A simple click on the donate tab is all it takes. I'd be most grateful for any donation you can find in your heart. Please join me and the Olde Crabs in helping those in need. Thank you and God Bless you.
