THE STORY: The Golden Gate Relay is a 200-mile relay race that has run from Calistoga to Santa Cruz every May for the last 19 years. Since the race's beginning, it has been closely affiliated with Organs R Us, a non-profit that supports organ donation by registering donors, supporting families of organ recipients, as well as raising awareness for the sheer number of people living in dire need of a donor organ. As of 1995, the year of the Relay's inception, of the 110,000 Americans waiting for organs, 20 died each day before a donor was found.
OUR TEAM: Old Growth is a team composed of Stanford Running Club alumni and new friends made along the way. Many on the team are Relay veterans (8+ years running!), but the team will also be inaugerating some Relay first-timers this year. We're hoping our many combined years of running, driving, navigating, and snacking experience translates into Relay success! Please help us in supporting Organs R Us as we prepare for this year's race! Thank you!
