Hello! I'm Quinn Lippmann, MD MPH, Urogynecologist and specialist in female pelvic reconstruction. I am planning my third trip to Kigali, Rwanda in June and one big wish from the OB/GYN department is an ultrasound machine. We can buy a good machine second-hand.
Ultrasound allows for evaluation of both pregnant and non-pregnant patients. It is often essential for evaluating the health of a developing fetus, determining the position of the fetus and determining if delivery is indicated. For non-pregnant patients, ultrasound can better characterize gynecologic cancers, determine if a patient is having abdominal bleeding, and assist in needle placement if fluid needs to be drained.
