We're shaking things up a bit this year and are headed to Governors Island for a 5k/10k for Testicular Cancer Awareness!

How important are your BALLS?! Whether you're a father, grandfather, husband, brother, son, boyfriend, uncle, cousin, lover or friend chances are your BALL(S) are very important to you.

Join us on Saturday, August 10, 2019 for NYCRuns Governors Island 5k/10k benefiting SKTCF's Annual “Running of the Balls” for Testicular Cancer Awareness! Testicular cancer is on the rise, studies estimate 9,560 new cases of testicular cancer will be diagnosed in 2019 in the U.S. alone and sadly an estimated 410 deaths will occur. There is good news, we can prevent all fatalities! TC is 99% curable when caught and treated in its earliest stages. Awareness of the symptoms and monthly self-examinations truly is the cure for this deadly disease.

Come celebrate that special man in your life! Join us as we Run for the Balls with a 5K and 10K, produced by NYCRuns, on Governors Island.

Register now to have fun for a good cause on Saturday, August 10, 2019. Time - The race will begin at 9:00am SHARP Course - This year, we have an exciting new course that eliminates a few pesky turns.

The 5K is one loop and the 10K is two loops.

Bib Pickup - Due to security restrictions, you must have your bib and any spectator bibs in advance of race day. Pre-Race pickup will be Friday 8/9 from 12 PM-7 PM at Paragon Sports (867 Broadway) in Manhattan. Take the 456LNQRW to Union Square. A friend or acquaintance may pick up your packet for you--they'll need only provide your name to packet pickup staff. You may also opt for bib mailing and pick up your shirt after the race.

There will be no race day packet pickup whatsoever.

Transportation - There's only one way to get to the island - the Governors Island ferry, and your ferry ride is included in your race registration.  You must arrive at the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South St. no later than 7:30 AM to check in and you must have your race bib.  The 4,5, R, and 1 trains are closest to the ferry terminal.  Please note, the ferry is only for registered runners and paid spectators with visible race bibs.

Bag Check - There will be a free bag check

The Foundation was established in memory of Sean Kimerling, a two time Emmy Award-winning anchor of NYC's PIX11 sports and pre-game announcer for the NY Mets. Sean died from testicular cancer on September 9, 2003 at the age of only 37, just one month after being diagnosed with this deadly disease. SKTCF’s mission is to raise Awareness, provide Answers and promote Action in the fight against testicular cancer.

Spread the word - If you're unable to join us, DON'T WORRY! Form a team on Crowdrise or donate to Team SKTCF. All funds received will help us continue our mission of raising awareness of this deadly but curable disease.

Let's raise awareness for Testicular Cancer TOGETHER! REGISTER NOW.
