On November 3rd, I am running the 2019 New York City Marathon. I was lucky enough to get in through the lottery but thought I would use this opportunity to raise money for a cause that is very important to me.
When I was 9 I was the victim of sexual abuse. Luckily I have always had an incredibly supportive network of family and friends around me. One big part of that network was the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. They are an organization comprised of incredibly dedicated and passionate individuals who strive every day to make the world a safer place to be a child. They helped my family and I more than I can say, and I will be forever grateful to them for their help, love, and support.
A recent NY Times article (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/09/28/us/child-sex-abuse.html) highlighted the fact that at present there are over 45 million photos and videos online of children being sexually abused. NCMEC simply cannot keep up with the volume of abusive content that comes through its doors.
For that reason, I am asking for help raising money for NCMEC so that they can continue and expand the incredible work they do. Please give what you can (if you can!) every little bit helps!
Stay tuned to my page for any further updates and where and how you can cheer me on on November 3rd!
