Street vendors are an essential part of New York City, and in the past few weeks, these small business owners have been hit hard by the COVID-19 outbreak. 90% of the Street Vendor Project's members are low-wage immigrant workers who rely on busy streets in order to survive day to day. Without a safety net to fall back on, they are forced to continue to work, risking their health and well-being in the process.
City, state, and federal responses to COVID-19 have shown with more alarming clarity than ever before, which New Yorkers are excluded from relief policies and benefits when crisis hits.
As primarily immigrant small business owners and workers, Street Vendors are ineligible for government support such as paid sick leave, unemployment insurance, or even most loans and grants offered to small businesses, making an already dire situation, critical. Many are left with fear and confusion as to how they will support themselves and their families in the coming days.
NYC Street Vendors Need Your Support!
Now more than ever we must show up for the vendorswho show up for New Yorkers every day, rain or shine. We are raising funds to support the Street Vendor Project’s members, the 2,000+street vendors who sell food and merchandise from the streets and sidewalks of New York City.
We need your help to ensure that street vendors can sustain themselves and their families for the duration of this health and financial crisis while we continue to fight for the protections, financial and otherwise, all street vendors deserve. Your donations will help us provide $300 relief payments directly to as many of our 2000+ individual street vendor members as possible. These are the workers on the front lines of the pandemic here in NYC making sure we have food to eat, and your contributions will help support them in purchasing groceries, paying rent and utilities, and make up for the drastic loss in sales.

وقد أوضحت الاستجابة لفيروس كورونا أن هناك مجموعة من سكان نيويورك مستبعدون من مساعدات حكومات المدينة والولاية والدولة في هذه الكوارث. فبائع الشارع كالمالك الوحيد لمشروعه التجاري الصغير هو غير مؤهل للدعم من الحكومة مثل الإجازات المرضية مدفوعة الأجر أو التأمين علي البطالة أو حتى معظم القروض والمنح المعروضة للمشاريع التجارية الصغيرة. وهذا وضع رهيب للبائعين يسبب الخوف والارتباك الشديد للكثير منهم في كيفية إعالة أنفسهم وعائلاتهم في الأيام القادمة.
