About NYC Kids Project
We are enough.
Everyone has value and should be celebrated for their unique contributions to the world and children deserve to hear this powerful message.
At NYC Kids Project, an arts and education organization, we teach empathy, inclusion, and respect for all in a vibrant and delightful way.
Our performances and classroom visits include the use of large theatrical puppets, storytelling, and sign-language – as well as an extensive question and answer period where children are free to ask anything about what it means to be different.
The focus is on character development and social/emotional learning and children can share directly with our puppet characters, asking questions about belonging, understanding others, bias, (both conscious and unconscious) and connection. We are much more alike than different — and our characters reinforce that onstage. Audiences are encouraged to examine their own attitudes towards differences and develop an awareness of what truly connects us.
We are helping to raise advocates and self-advocates for a world where everyone belongs.
Our expenses are remarkably low – we bring each show to each school for $350.
Your contribution will help fund performances in economically challenged public schools in NYC and surrounding areas — Our goal is $10,000 for programs in 10 schools. Each school (pre-K through the 5thgrade) will receive two puppet shows and 3 in-class presentations.
Each contribution will be used immediately to bring our essential programming to those who need it most: our future generation.
Thank you for considering NYC Kids Project for your end-of-year giving. Please spread the word and help us reach these kids.
With great appreciation,
NYC Kids Project
