For 22 years, the NYC Black Pride festival has provided programming and events to ensure Cis and Trans Individuals that identify as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender or Queer (the LGBTQ Community) have access to services towards ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic and other Health disparities. We focus on educating, uniting, celebrating, and honoring the diversity and the contributions of the LGBTQ Community of Color, including those that have expired and those that are still with us, to the society at large. The NYC Center for Black Pride, a certified 501c3 organization based in New York, NY led by Executive Director: Lee Simmons is the organizer of these NYC Black Pride events.
It is our ultimate mission to open an LGBTQ Center which would house and display LGBTQ historical artifacts & archives and to continue presenting programming and events that connect the community to services. We are fundraising now to create that specific safe space to present cultural & historical information pertinent to the LGBTQ Communities of color, sexual health education, and linkage to other services and resources.
