I've watched three of my friends in the last few years run the New York City Marathon and I decided that it's finally my turn! I'm so excited to be apart of Team Answer the Call because their cause really hits close to home.
My brother, Patrick Winberry, was a police officer in the 104th Precinct in Queens. He passed away in March 2016 and I really don't know how my family would have gotten through it without the NYPD brotherhood. I feel by running for Answer the Call, it will be a small way for me to give back that same love and respect my family received.
Please consider donating and helping me reach my $3,500 goal!
The mission of the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund is to support the families of New York City Police Officers, Firefighters, Port Authority Police, and EMS Personnel who have been killed in the line of duty. When these brave men and women make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our city, we believe it is our civic duty to support the families these heroes have left behind. Our mission is to reassure these families that will never forget them or the sacrifice made by their loved ones. We currently provide annual financial assistance, host special gatherings, and offer a network of support to approximately 600 families. Our goal is to raise enough funds to enable us to increase the annual support we provide to these families.
Our first responders come running whenever we need help. It's time we do the same for them.
