Jan 22, 2021 marks the 48th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. Annually, the NWL-Gainesville chapter celebrates the radical feminist organizing that pushed the Supreme Court to legalize abortion. This year is our 8th annual fundraiser. This year, organizing is different. While we miss seeing so many of you in person, we are hopeful that our annual fundraiser and celebration can now reach more people.
For 2021 we are celebrating the wins of the radical feminist movement and highlighting the work that still needs to be done. For the next eight days on our Facebook and Instagram pages, we’ll be sharing consciousness-raising testimony from folks about obstacles in their reproductive and parenting lives as well as historical highlights and movement wins over the years. NWL led in winning the Morning-After Pill over the counter, has fought back against abortion restrictions, fought against white supremacy, fought for greater access to abortion, fought for universal healthcare, and for programs and support that would make women more free. We believe that regular working-class people are the ones who make change, and that consciousness raising is an important tool in organizing people into all social justice movements.
Help us continue our movement work. Please consider a donation to our GoFundMe campaign - any amount is helpful. Our goal is $5000.
