In 1860 a family settled in Wolcott CT and began hand hewing logs in order to set up their homestead. For 160 years this home has been a refuge from the cold and a beacon for the generations that have called it home. Though developments are popping up all around it, this farm has held on to its roots and serves to preserve its’ history while also serving others as a therapeutic farm. Folks from near and far travel to the farm to receive comprehensive outpatient mental health care, experience nature via trails, fields, gardening and animal care. Many of the services are provided for free to those in need and all organic vegetables grown and eggs laid are shared freely with the community. One of the two owners of the house needs to sell their share and if the charity is unable to buy it, this piece of history could be lost to the community forever.Help add this historic farmstead to the charity which will mean preserving over 50 acres of land as well as the historic farm house. Future plans include a respite\retreat center, cooking and canning classes as well as related activities.
