Dear friends and loved ones,
My birthday is coming up soon. Had I been home - you would all be planning lavish gifts, and I'd be counting bills for the multiple parties I'd have to throw!
We all know this year has been a lesson. Now that I am far away from home, and learning so much about myself and life, I believe a cheaper and much soulful way to celebrate would be to make donations for the protection of children in India from any kind of abuse - physical, emotional, or sexual.
While we sit comfortably in our homes with our parents or kids, one in four young girls is forced to marry or in a union before their 18th birthday. Think about kids who are forced into labor, live in stringent conditions, tortured brutally when they should be able to believe in fairytales!
If 2020 has taught us anything - it is that we are supposed to nurture and care for each other, only then can we rise above these challenging issues.
The festive season is already here with Diwali, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! They say kids are God's little angels. They also say God resides within us. So what's the lesson in all of this? When you set out to help a child, you are indeed helping yourself.
How about you end the year on a meaningful note, and make my birthday more memorable!
