No Limits Cafe – a lunch cafe employing adults with intellectual disabilities - is the brainchild of Stephanie & Mark Cartier of Lincroft, NJ. As their 19-year daughter Katie, who was born with Down Syndrome, aged, they were jointly wondering what she would do post High School. Employment is very difficult to come by for people with intellectual disabilities. Studies show that this group of people are the most dedicated and loyal employees, yet very few employment opportunities exist. In fact, 80% of all adults with intellectual disabilities are not participating in the work force!
The Cartier’s decided to open a business to employ and train adults with intellectual disabilities, and the No Limits Cafe was born! Once trained in the restaurant business, these adults will go on to work in No Limits Cafe AND in other local area restaurants.
