Nina started swimming in Kindegarten. She joined Friday swim club and could barely swim the width of the pool.
Now in her 8th grade year she has grown into a competitive swimmer on the MDI Sharks.
Nina’s favorite part of being on the team is the friends she has bonded with over the years. It’s rewarding, and fun but hard work so it‘s nice to do it with friends.
As a parent I see many life lessons in swimming like pushing through things you may not always want to do, facing your fears of swimming new events, coping with not always having best times , and commitment. A strong body, and mind are nice side effects !
The Sharks have around 50 local families , some with multiple children involved . It has been a strong, successful program. It is important to our Island community and has been for over 40 years.
The AQUATHON is on February 3, Nina will swim 180+ laps in 1 1/2 hours. Please consider pledging her and help her meet or exceed her goal.
