Through an academically rigorous program grounded in Lakota culture, language, and values, the Pine Ridge Girls' School creates a girl-empowerment zone for the young women of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where they acquire self-respect, a love of learning, and the leadership qualities to serve and shape their world.
The Nightingale-Bamford School (www.nightingale.org) has formed sisterhood with Anpo Wicahpi (Morning Star), the Pine Ridge Girls School. Two delegations of Nightingale students have visited the school in 2018 and 2019, and the ninth grade class from Pine Ridge came to visit us in New York in April 2019. Faculty and student virtual connections promote cultural exchange.
100% of donations to this fundraiser will go to the Pine Ridge Girls School's operating budget. The school is indpendent and relies on contributions.
