My name is Nicole Graves. I served 6 years active duty in the Air Force as a medical technican from 2008-2014 and completed 2 back to back deployments. This is my second time taking part in the Run to Home Base. My first experience doing this run in 2018 wasn't just jaw dropping, it was inspirational; the amount of people that came together for such an amazing cause leaves you speechless.
What this organization does for veterans hits home for me. My dad suffers from PTSD and anxiety. I've had some close calls of losing him--- my hero; the man I look up to, who served 15 selfless years in the Marine Corps and would continue to do it day in and day out if he could;if he wasn't medically discharged. He's part of the reason I joined the USAF. My dad doesn't like public events; last year he traveled from Warwick, RI on a train and sat in a crowd to support his daughter doing this run. Now if that is not overcoming, supporting and love then I don't know what is.
I am a veteran. I support other veterans and those who continue to serve. I do my very best to take part in any event that gives back to those that selflessly gave to them.
Read up on the foundation. Maybe even join the run this year. Donate if you can.
