Sane Energy Project is a small yet mighty organization in the thick of the fight for a 100% renewable energy system and against pipeline and fracked gas infrastructure expansion in New York State. I ask you to donate to Sane Energy because I know your donation will be swiftly put to work in creating a socially just and participatory transition from the fossil fuel to a renewable energy economy. I am a volunteer with Sane, and know first hand that its staff and fellow volunteers build deep and cooperative relationships with people/ communities across the state to build collective power and create systemic change. I know this type of change to our energy system is needed to protect my family, friends, communities, and the Long Island and New York I love from climate change and fossil fuels. In this context I see your donation as an investment in the future of New York- in our people, bodies (i.e. health), communities, environment, climate, and democracy.
I am proud of Sane's many accomplishments this year and in the past. To name a few, Sane organized around 2,000 people marching on Albany on April 23, 2018 in the largest climate action ever seen in our state's capital; our campaign to stop the Williams NESE pipeline in New York Harbor had a monumental win, as the pipeline was denied approvals by the New York State DEC; and collective efforts with partner organizations to push New York to secure and support offshore wind power bore fruit, with New York initiating the process to procure 800 megawatts of offshore wind power. In 2015 Sane celebrated a major victory, with the veto of the proposed Port Ambrose Liquefied Natural Gas Port off the coast of Long Island and New York City. Wind energy is now planned in its place.
I sincerely thank you for your donation. Your support will enable Sane to continue its crucial organizing work to ensure a just and participatory transition to 100% renewable energy in New York is made reality. Join us in this fight, and feel free to contact me at nick@saneenergy.org.
