Rhodes Jordan Park (RJP) is one of the oldest treasures in Lawrenceville, Georgia. One of the first parks built in the county with sports fields, gym, water park and natural trails for hiking. Two years ago we were blessed with the opportunity to name the football field after a young man who played youth football at RJP. Nick was an upstanding young man who unfortunately passed away due to a heart condition. Unfortunately over the past two months, vandals have broken into our park twice and have done siginificant damage to our field and equipment including stealing electronic equipment, vandalizing property with paint and doing significant damage to our scoreboard wiring and electronic board which was already in a fragile condition. We are hoping the Lawrenceville community, youth sports community and anyone else eager to help our non profit association out will make a donation to our Gofundme or atleast share our link with your friends and family.
We are hoping to secure funds to help us acquire new equipment like AC/Heater unit, speakers and microphones, a new scoreboard and funds to help us pay for the internet service required for our new security camera system to monitor our field.
After promoting both incidents on social media, we have received an outpouring of calls and emails from local politicians, community members, friends, family along with former parents and players. We are hoping to kick off the New Year with your support in preparation for the 2021 sports calendar at Nick Blakely Field located in Rhodes Jordan Park!
