This program through the Little Saint Nick Foundation and board member Rob DiNoto is in honor of the life of Rob's son Nicholas DiNoto, who lost his life as a child a few years ago. Nicholas fought for his life in Cohen Children's Medical Center, a hospital that the Little Saint Nick Foundation has supported since 2002. The goal of this program is to provide the families of long term patients gift bags of everyday essential items that they need while supporting their child in the hospital. Some of the items that will be in the package are: phone charger, toothbrush, toothpaste, note pad, pen, mints, lanyard for ID badge, etc. However, the program doesn't stop there.
This program has two phases: Phase 1 is each family of long term patients in Cohen Children’s Medical Center (where Nicholas was) will be given a gift bag to enjoy of everyday items that they may forget to bring to the hospital. Phase 2 is a family member of the sick child will create a profile page for their child on www.littlestnick.org so people can post videos online to cheer them up during their hospital stay. We call this program “Christmas All Year Long”, as these two phases will be in action every day of the year. The funds raised for this campiagn will go directly to supporting these two phases.
About the Little Saint Nick Foundation: The Little Saint Nick Foundation is a 501C3 non-profit organization that was founded by Ray Mohler Jr. at the age of six in 2004. He had suffered from a rare childhood hip disorder but was fortunate enough not to have any life threatening illnesses and fully recovered. He decided that he needed to give back to the kids who he had left behind at the hospital, and his goal was to ease the anxiety and fear of those children in need. Today, our mission is to help inspire kids to help other kids in need. Our foundation helps children cope with their pain, fear and anxiety through the use of entertainment and various activities we provide. We offer emergency department gift bags, hospital toy give away parties, wish granting and more. In conjunction with helping kids in need, we inspire kids in their local community to give back to these kids in need. We do this by creating a nation-wide youth movement of service to others.
