Thank you for visiting my page! I'm running with the Small Miracles in Life Exist (SMILE Mass) team in the Ragner Cape Cod Relay in early May, having just run about 20 miles of the 200-mile relay this weekend. I have been involved in SMILE Mass for years and joined its board of directors last year. SMILE Mass is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families raising children or adults with disabilities enjoy happy, healthy memories through vacation and recreation experiences. I'd encourage you to learn more at https://www.smilemass.org.
This charity is important to me since I am an active, physical person and the focus of SMILE Mass is providing opportunities for engagement in activities that may otherwise be missed. One of the co-founders of SMILE Mass and mother of Nicholas - Lotte Diomede - is both and angel and a force. I have twin boys Nicholas' age and my first memory of Lotte was her with Nicholas in the pool while I was there with my boys when they were all VERY little. I swam every weekend day and so did Lotte. She cares so much for Nicholas and SMILE Mass extends that care to a broader community. Lotte and co-founder, Susan Brown, have done such great work with SMILE Mass, but they have a lot more to do.
This year Ragner was cancelled due to Covid-19, but many teams are continuing to run this virtually. SMILE removed any fundraising commitment with a hope to fundraise around our annual Falmouth Road Race, where we are one of the few charities that can push our runners in race wheelchairs. But Falmouth is now already cancelled as well. I am targeting a probably overaggressive goal of $5,000 and our famiy has contributed $1,000 to get that started. Please consider making a small donation! Thank you! ...Mike
