Noemi Espinosa Sauceda
Transplant Type: Kidney
Noemi Sauceda is awaiting a new lease on life. She’s been sick for several years and received a diagnosis in 2018.
At that time, Noemi learned she was in stage-5 kidney failure. Her diagnosis came as a shock, as no one else in her family suffers from kidney disease. Doctors say a kidney transplant is critical.
While she waits for a transplant, Noemi ison dialysis, which takes a toll on her quality of life and leaves her very tired. During this difficult time, Noemi is thankful for the love and support of her husband, Salvador, and their family and friends. She has three stepchildren and two stepgrandchildren, and her illness prevents her from visiting them as much as she would like.
Noemi looks forward to receiving a transplant that will free her from dialysis and allow her to feel like herself again. She used to enjoy walking and writing poetry, but she’s unable to do those things now, as her energy level and lack of concentration prevent her from taking part. She wants nothing more than to be healthy again so she will be able to drink as much fluid as she’d like, and enjoy life with her family. But right now, she needs your help.
The average kidney transplant costsmore than $414,000, and that’sonly the beginning.
Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, Noemi still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
Noemi is still working even though it can be very difficult at times. She’s had to alter her work schedule due to dialysis, and when she receives her transplant she will have to take time off while she recovers, further adding to her financial burdens.
