Transplant Type: Kidney
LC Martin is awaiting a new lease on life. Nearly 20 years ago, he was diagnosed with diabetes, which runs in his family. Over time, it has taken a toll on his body. He began experiencing high blood pressure and now faces end-stage renal disease. LC is on dialysis, which leaves him tired and affects his quality of life. Doctors say a kidney transplant is necessary.
During this difficult time, LC is thankful for the love and support of his wife, Sue, and their family and friends. LC has four children and seven grandchildren, and his illness prevents him from being the active husband, father, and grandfather he longs to be. LC enjoys traveling with his family, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and taking part in family camping trips and cookouts, but his illness limits his activities now. He looks forward to receiving a transplant that will free him from dialysis and allow him to feel like himself again. LC wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can have more years with his family, spend time with his wife, and live his life to the fullest. But right now, he needs your help.
The average kidney transplant costs more than $414,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. LC’s declining health forced him to stop working, further adding to his financial burdens.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of LC. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the Texas Transplant Fund, 5350 Poplar Avenue, Suite 850, Memphis, TN 38119. Please be sure to write "in honor of LC Martin” in the memo line.
