Transplant Type: Kidney
What if you were living on borrowed time?
Hayley Eades is 27 years old and awaiting a new lease on life. In 2018, she suddenly began experiencing worrisome symptoms; trouble sleeping, shortness of breath, and heart racing. Hayley was eventually diagnosed with IgA nephropathy. Her condition has continued to worsen, and now doctors say a kidney transplant is critical to her survival.
This has been a difficult time for Hayley, as she is not able to be as active as she once was, accompanied with pain and discomfort. She is extremely grateful for the love and support of her husband, Michael, their family, and friends, who have been by her side every step of the way. Before her health began to decline, Hayley and Michael felt the call to be foster parents. Unfortunately, her deteriorating health had caused that dream to be put on hold. Hayley loves singing, cooking, walking, and swimming, but these days, her activities are extremely limited due to constant fatigue. Hayley looks forward to the transplant that will allow her to live life with as few limitations as possible. She is ready to be healthy enough to spend many more years with Michael opening their home to foster children and possibly adopting children stuck in the system, but right now, she needs your help.
Unfortunately, Hayley’s hope for a new life comes at a very high price.
The average kidney transplant costs approximately $442,000. And that is only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, she still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to the National Foundation for Transplants in honor of Hayley.
