Ryan and I are joining Team Next Step in he Falmouth Road Race this summer! We are running in support of this fantastic organization that helped our friend Chloe Paoletta and many young adults living with life threatening diseases.
Team Next Step is running the 7-mile Falmouth Road Race for an 11th time this summer! This year we have 25 volunteers running in the prestigious race. They are running to help us offer more FREE year-round community, music and mentorship programs for teens and young adults, ages 16-29, living with cancer, HIV and rare genetic disorders.
Our young participants say it best. Read, in their words, about the impact of Next Step's programs:
"Next Step has given me purpose in life. I now know that I am a young adult who loves to sing, read, watch movies who just so happens to live with a rare disease."
"I literally ran away from my first Next Step program. I was running from the pain. But Next Step gave me a running start at life honestly."
"The emphasis on learning life skills was what got me in the door; the relationships I created among fellow participants is what kept me coming back."
"Meeting other people who’ve been through what you’re going through is incredibly cathartic. The “special sauce” is the shared life experience that makes even those you’ve just met feel like family."
"Next Step takes our circumstances and break down the wall between life & illness. We are given the environment, community, and freedom to live unapologetically as ourselves."
"I learned a lot about what issues are surrounding my particular illness, while at the same time learning about myself within these issues. I have never been a part of anything like Next Step!”
"Next Step has changed my life in an indescribable way. I’ve gained so many life skills that I wouldn’t have attained as easily, due to my physical disability."
