Good God! Am I really running the Boston Marathon? I am, and I'm so excited.
Thank you for visiting my 2020 Boston Marathon Fundraising page! I am so thrilled to be running in partnership with the John M. Barry Boys and Girls Club of Newton!!!
When I was deciding to run the Marathon, I knew that I wanted to run for a local charity, and particularly one that helps to serve those who are most vulnerable. Within my first meeting with the Newton Boys and Girls Club, I knew that I had found my partner. This is a selfless and dedicated organization whose sole mission is to help young people realize their potential. The Marathon Fundraising efforts represent a significant portion of their annual budget, and it is so meaningful to be able to directly contribute to their mission.
I live in and love the City of Newton, and I am so grateful to have the chance to support my friends and neighbors.
The Marathon represents the best of Boston, and I am so excited to be a part of the energy of Marathon Monday. For so many years I've sat on the sidelines, and now to directly participate...it's overwhelming.
On a personal level, I am training and running this year's Marathon for my father Terry Small, my wife Heather, and our little miracle Maddie-Rae. The Marathon represents the ultimate physical endeavor, and I look forward to changing my expectations of who I am and what I am capable of....in all areas of my life.
Children and miracles, and I believe they are gifts from above. The children at the Boys and Girls Club of Newton are gifts, and I'm so grateful to be a part of their journey. I'm running for them, and for all of the miracles in Heaven who never made it to their parents.
By donating, you are supporting a great cause, and you are also supporting me.....and I am very grateful. It may be cheesy, but if there is someone or a cause you'd like me to run for, I'd be honored. I'd love to have a list of people/names that I could carry with me during the race. When I hit the Newton Hills, I'll need all of the extra motivation that I can get. I'd love it if we could all cross the finish line, together.
Thank you all, and let's make it happen!
