The Remich Park playground is in disrepair and its equipment desparately requires updating. This is the Town of Littleton's primary children's recreation area. Schilling Beer Co., as part of its Fifth Anniversary Oktoberfest, is partnering with Friends of Remich Park and Town of Littleton Parks & Recreation Dept. to make this happen. Please join us as we seek to raise $100,000 for this effort!
Background
Remich Park playground was built in 1989 with the assistance of Friends of Remich Park and community support. Many in our town have enjoyed taking their children there to play, including the ownership and staff of Schilling Beer Co. Recently, the town's insurance company did a playground inspection to insure that it was code compliant. Unfortunately, many issues were discovered with the current playground. These issues include: swings needing to be replaced due to spacing; insufficient hardware distances between items; rotting wood in many spots that are difficult to reach without impacting the overall structure; entrapment hazards for children; deficient metal slides; surface materials (crushed gravel) that are the wrong type given the structures' height under current code, all of which needs to be replaced; etc. In short, we have a lot of work to do!
Goal
A local landscape architect (and our insurance company) estimates that a new code-compliant state-of-the-art playscape would cost around $150,000. We seek to raise $100,000 for this effort and have identified an additional $50,000 available to assist us in form of local/state/federal grants.
Remich Park offers a beautiful multipurpose play area, full of memories, accessible to many in Littleton. The goal is to once again make that play space a center point of the park and a safer area for our community's children. A new playground would reinvigorate the park, and with routine maintenance and inspections, reestablish it for the enjoyment of many for many years to come.
We look forward to receiving your donation and truly appreciate your support for this very worthy cause! Donors of over $1,000 will be reconized by Friends of Remich Park with plaques at the new playground. Many generations will be impacted by your generosity!
