Every day, New Earth helps some of the most vulnerable members of our community by providing food, counseling, arts, education and a safe space to empower juvenile justice and system involved youth ages 13-25 to transform their lives, move toward positive, healthier life choices and realize their full potential as contributing members of our community.
Although much of Los Angeles is under mandatory isolation due to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), New Earth is keeping our doors open for our young people. Our commitment is to continue to serve our members -- especially when all other avenues have closed.
We need your support so that we can continue offering these crucial services, now more than ever. Our center is a place to go during the day for youth whose housing is insecure, especially during the rain. It is a safe place to receive hot meals, counseling and continued mentoring during these times of uncertainty. Furthermore, we provide high speed internet for those students and families that need to communicate with others as well as tele-case management and virtual classes. We are continuing to work with our students who need help with their schoolwork packets and ‘distance’ learning by providing educational support and an open, safe place where they can go to complete their work. Many of them have been failed by the traditional school system multiple times, so this year was their chance to graduate, and we are doing everything we can to make sure those dreams become realities.
Every little bit helps, so please give what you can.
$100 could provide groceries for a family of 4 for a week
$200 could provide safe daily transportation for a young person for a month
$300 could provide baby and wellness supplies for a family
$2,500 could provide mental health services & programmatic support for 5 young people for a month
We extend our sympathy to all those affected by the Coronavirus and our empathy to our community who are concerned about their health and the health of their friends and families.
