On March 17th 2019 I’ll be in New York running the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon. Although i have been grandfathered into the race i still would like to raise money for a nonprofit. Because i am resining money on my own with no guidelines from New York Road Runners. I have the luxury of choosing whatever Nonprofit organization I feel. So, have chosen local nonprofit Pine Street Inn to be my Aid Recipient for this Marathon.
Founded in 1969, Pine Street Inn provides a range of services to nearly 2,000 homeless men and women each day. Pine Street Inn services 8000 homeless men and women annually and provides 2700 meals a day. Since 1969 Pine Street Inn has been providing the greater Boston Community with a comprehensive range of programs and services, including housing, emergency services, and workforce development. Pine Street Inn’s ultimate goal is to end homelessness by making permanent housing a reality for all. In 2010 - Pine Street Inn expanded to more than 550 units of permanent housing throughout greater Boston area. This just in, 2019 marks Pine Street Inn’s 50th anniversary.
I had the opportunity to volunteer at Pine Street for the holiday season. I was deeply moved by, kindness, generosity and comradely of the Aid workers, and clients who use Pine Street Inn as a life-saving resource. My Resolution is to be more humanitarian at this New Year. Will you join me?
