About Good Hope Farm
Good Hope Farm is a public-private partnership project with the Town of Cary and four nonprofits that supports beginning farmers, preserves farmland, and connects the community to local food. Now in our third year, we have 8 beginning organic farmers on site selling food to the community, host hundreds of volunteers at the farm for workdays, and provide educational opportunities to area schoolchildren and adults.
We are raising funds for a new-to-us tractor with front-end loader. We have three tractors for the farmers to use, but only one has a front-end loader, which is crucial for moving large loads of mulch and compost around the farm to help with weed protection and building soil quality. This tractor dates from the 1980s and recently had a significant breakdown of the loader hydraulic lift. The estimated costs for the repair are more than the value of the tractor. Our farm manager has located a replacement– a gently used Kubota tractor still under warranty for $20,000. We will use the funds raised to purchase a reliable tractor for the farmers that will be used for years to come.
